Memories of Goodrich

The Goodrich impact for me was having a strong support system from the faculty and staff who truly believed in me, truly wanted me to be successful, and were always willing to help. My favorite memories of Goodrich include stopping by Patty's office to chat.

"The Goodrich program provided me with a diverse lens through which to view the world. My Goodrich courses provided me with skills in reading, writing, and studying techniques to be successful in college. More so, these classes taught me about respecting diversity, overcoming hardships, and creating a sense of community.
The professors and students in the Goodrich program assisted me in transitioning into college life. As a first-generation college student, there was a lot I did not know about academia. I felt like my professors provided the support my parents did not know how to give because they did not have first-hand experience. My classmates became friends in which I could share similar life stories. The Goodrich program scaffolded my college experience to ensure success."

I remember meeting up with all my Goodrich scholar friends in the lounge and we would work on homework together

Goodrich helped me academically as well as in my personal life through mentorship and always having staff willing to listen. I've always felt like someone is supporting me, even past my undergraduate years.

I can honestly say if I had not received the Goodrich Scholarship, I would not have attended UNO and go on to also receive my Masters Degree as well. I am forever thankful to the staff, faculty and my fellow students who had graduating a reality. --Vickie F

I would not have graduated in 4 years, if at all, if I was not in the Goodrich program. The coursework and mentorship of the Goodrich professors was instrumental to my development as an adult and my orientation to life outside of my economically disadvantaged background. I would not be who I am today if I didn't get that scholarship.

Goodrich provided me opportunity and guidance at critical point in my life. Without it, I may not have had the ability to achieve what I have today. People like Dr. Okhamafe, Dr. Richardson, Dr. Romero, and Patty were instrumental in my success at UNO. They were all so eager to teach and willing to help when I needed it most. I am forever grateful. --Y Farani

Being a Goodrich Scholar, gave me he opportunity to attend a four-year university without driving my family or myself further into debt. I was able to focus on my studies without the stress how it would be paid for. I don't believe that I have a favorite moment or memory. The overall experience was a unique, once in a lifetime opportunity. I met amazing people and created lifelong friendships.

The Goodrich scholarship program gave me the ability to afford college and make life long friendships (most importantly my wife). I wouldn't be where I am today without the help and support of the program. Vincent B

It gave me a community, helped me learn about myself and others around me. I learned writing skills that are helping me with my career and to communicate effectively in the world. I learned to believe in myself. --Veronica A
