Goodrich Scholarship Program
Memories of Goodrich
Whether it was a place to be, fellowship with students, or faculty and staff, I always felt supported as a Goodricher. These relationships made me feel I belonged, reinforced to me the skills and intelligence I cultivated, and rooted me in a rich community. I was able to carry this confidence forward so I felt empowered to reach for any opportunity and choose my vocation; actively shaping my life. When I was interviewing for the scholarship, before I was even a recipient, I met Cathy. I was fidgeting nervously in the waiting area, looking behind me at Bart Vargas's "There Are Places On The Map That Do Not Exist 2019" and she asked me about it. I said something very silly, like "it's an upside down map" and she was so complimentary of my astute observation. It made me walk into the interview with such confidence. Goodrich is always like that -- someone to help you out and make you feel like you belonged and deserved to be there. --Hannah G
I will forever remember Dr. Smith, as she was one of the best professors I’ve ever had and did not let me just “get by” in her class. She was strict but fair and always had a great attitude in class.
My favorite memory as a member of the Goodrich community would be watching movies and having writing assignments which followed the matinee. I have never looked at a movie the same. I see so much more than the Big Screen; that others miss. Thank you for the experience. I am so grateful for the experience and the friendships made during my journey as a Goodrich Scholar. Thank you again for the opportunity to excel.

I remember speaking in front of my classmates one day and sharing with them what it's like celebrating Chinese New Year in China. Everyone was
so intrigued with our traditional food, symbols, colors, dress codes.. It was so much fun to have that moment with my classmates and knowing that we are all different but we want to learn more about each other. It brought back so many great childhood memories celebrating the special holiday with my family. Goodrich is about diversity and culture, at that moment I felt I was welcomed and accepted by my peers
